Subatmospheric Gas Systems and the Fire Codes -- Trying to Fit A Round Cylinder Into a Square Book

Sub Atmoshperic Gas Systems (SAGS) are fairly common to the semiconductor industry. However, the model Fire Codes have not kept pace with this technology. As a result, users of these systems may have difficulty obtaining approvals from code officials. SAGS offer improved safety for the storage and use of semiconductor gases. This presentation will address the safety of these systems and offer suggested steps to obtain code official approval. The presentation will include an analysis of how the current Fire Codes fail to address these systems and discuss proposed changes to the NFPA compressed gas standards and the International Fire Code.
