Redinger, Charles F
(Redinger & Associates, Inc.)
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recently adopted an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OHSMS) standard, ANSI Z10. This new management system standard is a significant development in our field and may have a long-lasting impact. In addition to addressing Z10’s content and development history, insights are provided on the standard’s potential long-term impact on safety and health management practices. Implementation tips are provided along with ways to integrate Z10 with other systems such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, the ILO OHSMS and OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program. Dr. Redinger has been at the forefront of occupational health & safety management system and performance measurement research and methods development domestically and abroad. He served as a technical consultant to the Z10 committee. He was also involved in the ILO OHSMS development efforts, and wrote an OHSMS implementation manual for the ILO.
