Topic: Install and Decommissioning Equipment

Summary of Meeting:

The meeting proceeded as follows:


  1. Introduction of the day's program by Gary Meister of Rosemount (Emerson). Gary introduced Mark Anderson of Rosemount (Emerson) who provided overview of their products at the Eden Prairie and Chanhassen, MN plants.


  1. Jay Rodstein introduced the topic for the day’s meeting. Each manufacturing company provided an overview of their process used for installation or decommissioning of equipment. Presenters included Rosemount, PolarFab, Cypress, Seagate and Honeywell. FSI presented a detailed procedure for decommissioning that they provide to their customers.


  1. There is a wide range of processes used from very formal procedures to informal discussions between key players. Key players include finance (capital process for incoming or clearing from books for outgoing), operations (user of incoming and cleaner of outgoing), facilities (utility needs for incoming and handling outgoing equipment), as well as HSE.


  1. A roundtable was conducted on other current topics of interest brought to floor by attendees.


  1. The next meeting will be at PolarFab in mid-September. Topic will be Hazardous Gas Monitoring Technologies by Jim Behnke of Zellweger. Infrared monitoring for electrical hot spots will be included in either the September or November session and will be presented by Pat Gruenberg of St Paul-Travelers Company.
