1. Objective: Expand And Improve The Visibility Of SSA To Stimulate And Promote Growth

1.1 Goal: Develop a Journal of the highest professional quality which will be without equal in the high technology ESH area

1.1.1 Increase use as the repository for technical content
1.1.2 Improve article quality
1.1.3 Improve timeliness
1.1.4 Develop Journal quality metrics

1.2 Goal: Increase membership size

1.2.1 Focus on expanding membership and participation to ensure representation from domestic regions and targeted international growth areas
1.2.2 Recruit membership from process engineering, maintenance technician and other job disciplines having collateral ESH responsibilities
1.2.3 Recruit lapsed members
1.2.4 Increase the number of student memberships

1.3 Goal: Collaborate with other organizations on appropriate projects

1.3.1 Continue workshop programs with SEMI, SIA and SEMATECH
1.3.2 Establish ties with other ESH professional associations
1.3.3 Promote/co-sponsor engineering conferences and workshops
1.3.4 Acknowledge individuals and organizations that contribute to the success of the SSA

1.4 Goal: Establish visibility with governmental organizations

1.4.1 Increase attendance of governmental organizations at the annual conference
1.4.2 Look for opportunities to co-sponsor seminars
1.4.3 Solicit Journal articles from governmental representatives
1.4.4 Increase distribution of the Journal to governmental organizations

1.5 Goal: Introduce SSA to non-traditional areas

1.5.1 Show the value of the SSA to related high-tech areas

2. Objective: Continuously Improve The Annual Conference

2.1 Goal: Improve the quality of conference presentations

2.1.1 Increase the technical content and variety
2.1.2 Upgrade presentation delivery tools
2.1.3 Improve the quality of proceedings

2.2 Goal: Improve the PDC sessions

2.2.1 Expand awarding of conference attendance credits to professional certification bodies beyond the CSP and CIH
2.2.2 Look for non-traditional PDC topics

2.3 Goal: Ensure best value to members

2.3.1 Benchmark conference fees and ROI with other professional conferences
2.3.2 Improve the response rate of the conference evaluation form by members
2.3.3 Provide reduced conference rates for representatives of governmental agencies

2.4 Goal: Ensure best value to vendors

2.4.1 Ensure vendor input to the selection process for future meeting sites
2.4.2 Improve the response rate of the conference evaluation form by vendors
2.4.3 Increase vendor recognition
2.4.4 Benchmark booth fees and ROI with other professional conferences

3. Objective: Develop A System That Enhances International Development Through National, Regional And Chapter Development

3.1 Goal: Facilitate development of Regions and Chapters across North America

3.2 Goal: Facilitate SSA activities in Asia and Europe

3.3 Goal: Facilitate development of student chapters

4. Objective: Develop And Encourage Scholarship/Academic Programs

4.1 Goal: Expand Regional academic programs

4.2 Goal: Strengthen university participation in SSA

4.3 Goal: Continue to grow the Restricted Scholarship Fund based on anticipated needs

4.7 Goal: Develop a mechanism to track academic program successes (ie: number of scholarships awarded versus recipients who entered high tech EHS careers)

5. Objective: Continuously Examine And Improve The Management Processes Of The SSA

5.1 Goal: Strengthen committee structure and management

5.1.1 Empower committee chairs to manage activities in support of Board directives
5.1.2 Create new committees where needed

5.2 Goal: Maintain and follow up to date SOP's for each area/committee of the Association

5.3 Goal: Review Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation

5.4 Goal Annually examine the management structure for effectiveness
